Introduction

The Aberdeen Safer Community Trust Limited is now tasked with co-ordinating all Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in Aberdeen City. We act as a liaison between local schemes and associations, and Grampian Police. Our aim is to improve the communication between Neighbourhood Watch and the Police, to encourage new groups to start up, and to support the schemes that are running. On this page you should find useful information you can use for your scheme but if you can't find what you're looking for then please don't hesitate to contact us.

Starting a new Watch Scheme

Starting a new Watch has never been easier. Just contact the Neighbourhood Watch Office for more information and supply of all necessary materials. In short what will happen is that if you are interested, leaflets will be supplied to you to distribute to your neighbours. If there is sufficient interest then a start up meeting will be organised with the help of the Neighbourhood Watch Officer. £30 towards this initial meeting is available for hire of a venue, refreshments etc. Everyone is invited and at the meeting a co-ordinator is chosen (usually the person that showed initial interest). This person collects the names and addresses of those joining the watch. Security items are given out to all the new members and the co-ordinator recieves a handbook created by the Grampian Neighbourhood Watch Association.
